Signs of an Acutely Suicidal Condition



Sudden personality changes.
Dramatic mood change - from high to low or low to high.

Giving personal possessions away, inappropriately.

Increased use of alcohol, anti-anxiety medications, or street drugs like marijuana or cocaine.
Tolerance or dependence on any addicting substance.
In people with histories of addiction, there may have been a recent effort to abstain.

There is a recent trauma or significant loss.

The individual has a preferred method of killing self
The method is easily available to this person.
There have been verbalizations of wishing for death.
There have been one or more past self injury incidents.
